Introduction

Longitudinal studies, characterized by repeated observations or measurements of the same individuals over extended periods, are indispensable in the field of internal medicine. These studies provide a dynamic and comprehensive view of health trajectories, making them crucial for understanding disease progression, evaluating treatment efficacy, and identifying long-term health outcomes. Unlike crosssectional studies, which offer a snapshot at a single point in time, longitudinal studies track changes and developments within the same cohort, allowing researchers to uncover patterns and causal relationships that are essential for advancing medical knowledge and patient care. In internal medicine, where the management of chronic diseases and complex health conditions is prevalent, longitudinal studies are particularly valuable.
